PROBLEMS OF SELF-CENSORSHIP
Staged photography and 3D rendering
Three giclée prints
2017
Problems of Self-Censorship explores how the anticipation of being seen shapes the ways we present ourselves. Through a series of staged situations, the work considers the subtle adjustments made before an image enters public view—what is allowed to appear, what remains indistinct, and how the imagined gaze of others becomes par t of looking at oneself. Wearing a laborator y coat, I perform a series of actions for the camera, occupying the roles of both examiner and subject. An
eye chart is paired with my rotating, blurred body. The promise of clear recognition meets a figure that cannot be held still.//Fig. 24 Installation render
